Interleukin-13: A pivotal target against influenza-induced exacerbation of chronic lung diseases

چکیده

Non-communicable, chronic respiratory diseases (CRDs) affect millions of individuals worldwide. The course these CRDs (asthma, obstructive pulmonary disease, and cystic fibrosis) are often punctuated by microbial infections that may result in hospitalization associated with increased risk morbidity mortality, as well reduced quality life. Interleukin-13 (IL-13) is a key protein regulates airway inflammation mucus hypersecretion. There has been much interest IL-13 from the last two decades. This cytokine believed to play decisive role exacerbation during viral infections, especially, those pre-existing CRDs. Here, we discuss common CRDs, potential plays virus-induced disease pathogenesis We also discuss, detail, immune-modulation could be translated in-depth studies develop IL-13-based therapeutic entities.

Interleukin-6 limits influenza-induced inflammation and protects against fatal lung pathology.

Balancing the generation of immune responses capable of controlling virus replication with those causing immunopathology is critical for the survival of the host and resolution of influenza-induced inflammation. Based on the capacity of interleukin-6 (IL-6) to govern both optimal T-cell responses and inflammatory resolution, we hypothesised that IL-6 plays an important role in maintaining this ...

Apoptosis as a Potential Target in Therapeutic and Vaccine Interventions against Parasitic Diseases

Apoptosis is a physiological cell death that occurs under normal conditions in major biological processes, including the removal of old, damaged, extra, or harmful cells. It plays an important role in natural evolution, tissue homeostasis, removal of cells damaged or infected by viruses, and removal of immune cells activated against self-antigens. The purpose of this review was to examine the r...

Interleukin-22 reduces lung inflammation during influenza A virus infection and protects against secondary bacterial infection.

Interleukin-22 (IL-22) has redundant, protective, or pathogenic functions during autoimmune, inflammatory, and infectious diseases. Here, we addressed the potential role of IL-22 in host defense and pathogenesis during lethal and sublethal respiratory H3N2 influenza A virus (IAV) infection. We show that IL-22, as well as factors associated with its production, are expressed in the lung tissue d...

Asbestos-related Lung Diseases: A Brief Update

Health risks from asbestos exposures have been evaluated, considering past professional histories when exposures at workplaces were higher than today. A linear no-threshold (LNT) model has been applied, although its relevance is unproven. Fibers are often found in the lungs and pleura of deceased people. Fiber findings do not prove that a disease is caused by asbestos. It is reasonable to assum...

CHRONIC OBSTRUCTIVE PULMONARY DISEASE Decreased expression of interleukin 13 in human lung emphysema

Background: The overexpression of interferon (IFN)c or interleukin (IL)-13 in the adult murine lung induces the development of changes that mirror human lung emphysema. Methods: IL-13 and IFNc expression was determined in lung samples from five groups of patients: severe emphysema without a1-antitrypsin deficiency (SE+, n = 10); severe emphysema with a1-antitrypsin deficiency (SE2, n = 5); mild...
